Housing
Our homes will be comfortable and economic, healthy and energy-efficient.
They will be designed using passive solar design principles, paying regard to orientation, window openings, insulation and thermal mass
They will be built using materials which are healthy (eg, do not release poisonous gases), have low embedded energy and represent efficient and socially-responsible resource use.
Community members will be encouraged to design the "minimal house" to meet their housing needs, with designs requiring community approval.
We aim to become self-sufficiency in energy, water and waste management. Strategies will include the use of low voltage solar power systems, waterless toilets and recycled grey water.
Co-housing principles will be adopted to accommodate single people. A minimum of two shareholdings will be required for those wanting to live in separate dwellings.
